My path
I came to psychology after a first professional life in law. Below is how that happened, how I work and who I work with.
Who I am
Alina Triantafyllou
I studied law and worked for twenty years, first as a lawyer and then as a Special Scientist at the Greek Ombudsman, an independent authority. That work brought me close to people asking for help at difficult moments, and it made me want to meet them in a different way.
In 2022 I decided to study Psychology, a subject I had always loved. During my studies I completed a clinical placement at the Forensic Psychiatry and Long-Acting Antipsychotics Outpatient Clinic of the 2nd Department of Psychiatry at ATTIKON University Hospital, where I continue to work as a volunteer.
Today I see people at my practice in Cholargos, online or by phone. Sessions are individual and their content is confidential.
My approach
Psychodynamic therapy
The main aim of psychodynamic therapy is to help the person understand their feelings and thoughts, so as to gain a measure of control over their life and to know themselves better.
It focuses on inner conflicts that people are often unaware of, working through the relationship between therapist and client. It connects early childhood experience with the person's present, helping them understand the difficulties they meet in their life.
The consulting room is a safe frame in which they can unfold their experiences.
Starting from the problem the person is facing now, I encourage them to speak about themselves and their feelings. With our relationship as the vehicle, I invite them to try new ways of relating through how we communicate.
Therapy is a journey we make together. Within a safe setting there is room to share one's experiences. Like two fellow travellers, we live through both the calm and the turbulence.
Our interaction affects and shapes us both. The aim is to keep improving the quality of our relationship within a frame of honesty, and to create a common ground where personal expression is encouraged.
